A Few Modifications Coming To The Admirals Cove Golf Courses!
Posted by Admirals Cove Homes on Nov 7, 2014 in Admirals Cove Golf | 0 comments
The golf clubs at Admirals Cove are already considered to be some of the best the country has to offer. They have previously played host to a U.S Open Sectional qualifying event each and every year adding to its reputation as one of the best clubs in the area. However, for this quality to continue at the level members have come to expect the club has decided that a few changes are in order. Recently the Admirals Cove Golf Club announced in an email to its members that there would be some changes to the “in season” maintenance schedules and practices. The East Course and the Golf Village Courses on an alternating schedule will be closed in the mornings on Mondays. This is due to the fact that Monday is typically the slowest day of the week when it comes to golf play and it will allow the club to complete any of the necessary course maintenance with the least amount of impact on members. Here Is A List Of Some Additional Maintenance That Will Go Into Effect: Needle-tining The Greens – This will allow the grass on the greens to expel gases built up in the soil and replace it with oxygen. A green’s subsurface requires oxygen in order for the roots to breathe. Fertilizing The Tees, Greens, And Fairways – This is best done when there are no members on the golf course. Proper fertilization requires the use of water and it needs be allowed to absorb correctly before driven on by carts. Top Dressing The Greens With Sand – When you top-dress a wet course the sand can clump instead of settling to the bottom. With the course closed for the morning top dressing can occur later in the morning after it has dried correctly. Detail Work – Normally this would be done in the mist of play and could have an effect on members. With the course closed in the morning all the detail work...
