Living in South Florida has its perks but sometimes during the summer months the heat can be just too much to take, and that is when taking shelter in your home is the only way to beat the heat. But sometimes keeping your South Florida home cool can be an expensive and timely chore. So we have developed a list of some great ways to keep your Admirals Cove home cool that won’t break the bank.
.) Utilize Vines: A great way to keep your home cool is to grow climbing vines on the exterior of your Admirals Cove home. Vines like Virginia Creepers can act much like insulation and will help prevent your home from absorbing the heat from the South Florida sun. Vines are also very beautiful and can add some style and appeal to your home.
.) Install Ceiling Fans: Installing ceiling fans in your Admirals Cove home will afford you with a very desirable and cooling air flow. Ceiling fans are also a cost effective and energy efficient upgrade that will ease the strain on your air conditioning unit. Putting ceiling fans throughout your home can really increase the air flow and cool it down throughout.
.) Consider Your Roof Color: Most people don’t realize that one of the biggest sources of heat entering your home occurs through their roof. The color of your roof can affect this greatly. You can keep your home cool by painting your roof with a reflective coating or using light colored roofing materials or shingles.
.) Incorporate Shutters, Shades, and Blinds: A great way to keep your Admirals Cove home cool is by incorporating shutters on the exteriors of your windows and shades and blinds on the interior of them. The sun can really radiate heat through glass and shutters, shades, and blinds prevent your windows from magnifying the South Florida sun and heating up your home.
.) Avoid Warm Colors: Colors like reds, oranges, and yellows are very warm colors and can not only heat up a room but make you psychologically feel hotter than it actually is. Avoid painting your rooms in these colors and instead choose cooler colors like blues, grays, and light greens.
